At Northwoods Lodge, owner and executive chef, Shan Johnson, delights her guests with daily catches, her collection of tried and true recipes, and produce from her gardens. Our culinary team and hospitality staff work tirelessly to ensure your dining experience is exceptional.

Shan has many gardens and a greenhouse where she grows a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, tomatoes, chili’s and tubers. And that is on top of her abundant numbers of flower gardens. Her season starts early to be able to provide organize produce for her clientele.

She pays close attention to planning out her menu for the week and even keeps a journal of the meals she prepares for repeat clients so you will always have something new to try or get your favorite again, which is usually Strawberry Rhubarb Pie (both grown at the lodge). A variety of specialty meats are often served during your stay including house smoked salmon. Some of the guests favorites are Prime Rib, Chicken Dijon, Birria Tacos, Italian Shells Casserole, Bourbon Glazed Salmon, Smoked Baby Back Ribs, Marinated Pork Tenderloin, Seafood Scampi and fried northern pike.

Desserts, cookies and sourdough breads are made from scratch in her commercial kitchen daily and includes Rhubarb (also grown at the lodge) Cake with Butter Sauce, Chocolate Pudding Cake, Blueberry Lemon Cream Cake and many more. We cater to all dietary preferences and allergies

Spacious Dining Room

A large spacious dining room with native birch wainscoting and two lounge areas provide a comfortable place to visit and share stories after a day of fishing. Hearty gourmet meals are served to compliment your Alaska fishing lodge experience. You can look forward to dining on fresh Lake Creek salmon, Sea of Cortez fish, ribeye steak, and a variety of other gourmet meals.

The dining room also serves well for corporate meetings.

Our meals are prepared with the freshest foods from our catch and our garden whenever possible.

A five-course, gourmet dinner is served at the lodge at 6:00 pm every evening. Our gourmet salmon dishes have been featured in Fish Alaska Magazine.
