The Cooking School at Northwoods Lodge
Join us at our fly in, remote gourmet kitchen in the heart of Alaska’s wilderness
We offer weekend cooking classes open to the public as well as our private guests staying with us at Northwoods Lodge.
The unique setting of our cooking school offers inspiration to explore Alaska’s regional products.. When you think of Alaskan food, you can almost taste the succulent flavor of King Crab or Copper River Salmon. But there’s a lot more to Alaskan cuisine than its fresh seafood. Our wild moose, caribou, buffalo and yes, even elk offer you natures protein without hormones or chemicals.
Enjoy a waterfront luncheon prepared by the class with time enough for a tour of our gardens, flowers and greenhouse. Explore our local flora and fauna on our hiking trail or kayaking around Fish Lakes.
Alaska’s own Chef Al Levinshohn, will be our first Guest chef instructor. Chef Al is well known in Alaska as host of the Allen & Peterson Cooking School and recently reopened The Bridge Seafood Restaurant in Anchorage.
